First of all the very first chapter of A Dream of Waking is available for print, most of exciting of all is the fact that it is a flip book. So for a measly eight bucks you get not only the 40 page first issue but also the 22 page first issue of The Coming Storm, written and drawn by my partner in crime, my buddy, my brother from another mother, Neal Wertanen.

If you'd like your very own copy, you can get one from me in person, I have tons and would love nothing more than to give you your very own signed copy. If you ask me nicely I may even personalize it with a cool sketch inside. This first book is my first project into self-publishing and I would love to have it become an early success story.

A PRODUCTIVE NIGHT... AND MORNING

Hey folks, last night was a restless one, so I put my usual insomnia to good use. I did the posted three pages for chapter two (which is well underway thank the risen Jesus). They are an example of something that happens rarely in art, they look far better than what I pictured while writing the scene. Enjoy bitches. Do post a comment it's what all the cool kids are doing.

A DREAM OF WAKING CHAPTER ONE REDUX

GOOD MORNING KIDDIES,
Okay, so I fucked up. (#678,256,492 I believe but it's hard to keep track.) I finished the whole first chapter of my very long comic book then I began to plan out the later parts of the story (using teeny tiny sketches often called "thumbnails). During this process I came to realize that a lot of the artwork to come is going to have to stretch out across two pages. In the industry this is known as a "but I prefer the term "centerfold" like in Playboy. Thing is, I'm printing my book in a novel format meaning there will be a spine which will just devour the middle inch of any picture stretching across pages, thus destroying hours of work and ruining the cinematic effect the whole thing is meant to achieve.
The solution; a new format, the book will now be printed at 9" by 7" a landscape format that will preserve all the artwork and provide the effect I'm going for.
The problem; the first issue was designed in a vertical format and does not work in a horizontal presentation.
The solution part II; Redesign the layout of the first chapter to match the new style.
Such is the method of my madness. Anyways, I'm throwing up a gallery with some of the new pages so you can see what I've been up to late at night and early into the morning while the rest of you are sleeping.
If you've already got a copy of the first chapter go ahead and contrast and compare the old to the new, if you haven't got a copy then look at it as a free taste of the printed book. Like that first hit of crack you had oh so many years ago...
